Update on the Ministry in India : May 2017

Upcoming Ministry Trip

prayer card

The flier to the left has been distributed to the church planters and their teams for our upcoming ministry in India. Notice how they too are in prayer for this upcoming ministry. We are scheduled to leave from Cleveland early on Thursday, May 4th. We would appreciate your prayers for smooth flight connections; smooth immigration entry; and opportunities on all our flights to share the Gospel with fellow passengers including the flight crew.

We also need your prayers regarding the hot climate, different food (spicy food), a good night’s sleep in the various places and an effective ministry among our Brethren. Pray also for any who are not saved to come to Christ during the Conferences.

The flier above only lists the Conference in Coimbatore.
However, there will also be one in the city of Vishakapatnam for the men and their families coming from the state of Odisha.

Over a month ago, I had sent the men a questionnaire to see how they are doing. This response from Brother Joseph Surya in Umarkote, Odisha caught my attention:

I often am depressed because my parents are drunkards, very carnal and constantly think about money. Their mindset is one of luxury and greed. Since I don’t provide them with material things, they do not love me as a son and have no sympathy for my ministry. In fact, they hold me in contempt because of my stand on the Bible. This makes it very difficult for my wife and my daughter. They ridicule any kind of church activity. As a result, there is always friction between us. Moreover, because of social and political pressure, people who are hearing the word of God are very reticent to step forward and make a public declaration of their faith.

Then, there is the positive side. Here are some comments from Nehemiah in Semala, Odisha: We are reaching the unreached villages and distributing tracts and other gospel booklets. Some have been saved, but many reject the truth. However, 70 believers now meet at the church that I am leading. Sixty of them have been baptized by trine immersion. There are also about 10 unbelievers who attend our Sunday worship times. We conduct three-fold communion once or twice a month.

Please continue praying for the church planting ministry in India. It is not easy. Your prayers are an essential part of this ministry (2 Cor. 1:11).
