Update on the Ministry in India : August 2014

Pray for those who are preparing for baptism in Cholapuram.  If you did not yet get to see the video presentation of the work there at Conference, you can access it online at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0MW47_jGJo

Three persons have been saved recently and two are getting ready for baptism. The church needs men to assist in the ministries and a lady minister (deaconess) to serve among the women.

About five families are attending the weekly Bible study at Brother Moses’ house. Though they are from different congregations, they are eager to understand the Bible clearly. Pray for the security man in Agape Home as the Lord is speaking to him. He has been listening in on our services and wants to know more about Jesus. Please pray also for the tract ministry.

Brother Philip is doing the children’s ministry among the Dalit children. Most of the families are working in Brick Kilns. The children are eager to know Jesus. Pray that many families will come to Christ.

Recently, funds were sent to assist with the education of the children of the church planters. There is no free education in India. You either pay to go to school or you find work; or, in some cases, the children merely play on the streets.

Pastor Steve Burns says that we are about a month behind in our quarterly financial goal for the church planters. Please pray with us that the Lord will supply all the needs of the men and their families.  Our next scheduled wire transfer of funds is October 1st.  We deeply appreciate all those who give to this ministry.

Some of you sent funds to purchase mats so the believers would not have to sit on dirt floors during the Sunday services. This is a picture of some of the mats that were purchased for that purpose.  You may recognize Brother Joseph and other members of the church planting team in Umarkote.

If you did not receive word regarding the outcome of the government’s new regulations on orphanages in Coimbatore, then we want you to know that the girls in Agape Home have all been transported to Torbay House in the south.  All the boys are now in Agape Home. This seems to have appeased the government and though adjustments need to be made, it is working so far. Thank you for your prayers and concern for the children in this matter.
