Updates on the Ministry in India :: December 2013

The men in Odisha held a Practorium block course on the Life of Christ; a study in the Gospels November 24-27.  The picture above is Brother Nehemiah Bardhan teaching the Gospel of Luke.  The men were reminded that teachers of the word will received a stricter judgment (James 3:1) and that we should take the proclamation of the word very seriously.  There were 30 men in attendance. The men also took time in the evening to discuss their vision for 2020.  Since we here in the U.S. are setting goals for 2020 year-by-year, they decided to do the same.  Some of their goals are as follows:

1.    JOSEPH SURIYA, Team leader for the area of Umarkote – 2014-2020

A. We will win 600 people to Christ; each man will win 4 per year, depending upon the Holy Spirit to save.

B. We will plant 100 churches; each man will plant 2 churches per year, God willing.

C. We will share the Gospel with 4,000 people; each man sharing with 40 people each week.

D. We will baptize 300 souls; 50 per year, God willing.

If all teams reach their goals by 2020, there will be over 2,000 believers and over 180 churches.

Brother Paul, who led the Practorium and goal setting sessions also visited those seriously affected by the hurricane.  Below is a picture of Brother Sagar’s house.  The roof was completely destroyed.  Thanks to your gifts, our brother was able to replace his roof.

The Brethren in Odisha are in need of 150 Bibles in Oriya and 100 mats to sit on.  A class or church Christmas gift to this need would be appreciated.  The total need in U.S. dollars is 700.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support of the church planting ministry in India.
