(CNN) — Flash floods swept through the eastern Indian state of Odisha last Saturday, Oct. 26th, where at least 19 people were killed, and Andhra Pradesh, where another 21 were killed, CNN-IBN reported.
“The flood water entered our village suddenly,” one rescued villager told Reuters. “We tried to save our belongings but could not. At last we ran away to a safe place. Now the problem is we don’t have food to eat and are staying under open sky.”
A local government official said help was under way. In all, 13 districts in Odisha were affected, a special relief commissioner, said in a telephone interview. Most affected was the Ganjam District, where 85,000 people were evacuated, he said. “The situation is very grim as the entire Delta area is completely inundated,” A Guntur district official CNN’s sister network. “Drains and tanks are overflowing and there is a threat of breaches occurring at some places because of the nonstop rain.”
Brother Paul wrote and told us that SANKAR RAM SAGAR who is working in a Hill area in Nabragpur, Semla region lost his house in the heavy rain and Bro Nehemiah’s Mother lost her house. In General more than 1.6 million people have been affected and 35,000 villages are in trouble. Please pray for our workers and the people along with the November Practorium program.
This is a hindrance to the November Practorium scheduled for Nov. 22-27. Please pray that each man will be able to attend and that the time will be profitable for each one’s spiritual growth and development in the ministry which the Lord has entrusted to each one. Pray especially for Brother Paul as he makes the long and arduous trip there and back.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support of the church planting ministry in India.
