Salomon & Mary Zambo ~ Prayer Request

Salomon Zambo

Salomon & Mary Zambo at Conference in 2012

Dear brothers and sisters,

I have been on the phone with Mary Zambo, Salomon’s wife.  Salomon got a fish bone lodged in his throat on Saturday and he had to go to a surgeon on Sunday at the hospital in Yaounde to have the bone removed.  He has a number of wounds in his throat from the surgery and can barely speak.  Please pray for complete recovery.

Also we praise the Lord that Salomon was able to find his eye medicine in Bamenda at the hospital there but his eyes continue to get worse.  He has consulted three more eye specialists and they think he is a candidate for laser surgery.  Salomon continues to correspond with two specialists here in the US.  Pray for wisdom and for healing for his eyes and for wisdom as to what we can do to help.

God bless,
Pastor Keith Merriman

Update on the Ministry in India – April 2013

MYANMAR INVESTIGATIVE TRIP

Neng Thang

In 2010, Pastor Ike Graham was contacted by a church elder in Yangon, Myanmar by the name of Aung Kyaw Moe. Correspondence regarding church planting in Myanmar ensued for months.  Then, in November of 2011, Aung came to the U.S. and visited Pastor Graham at his house.

At that time, plans were made for the team going to India in May 2013 to visit Myanmar and explore the possibility of planting churches there in a partnership with Aung Kyaw Moe.  In the meantime, Dr. Whitcomb had met a man from Myanmar (Burma) in Indianapolis by the name of Neng Thang.  Neng Thang has his doctorate from Bob Jones University.  He is involved in outreach and church planting in Myanmar.  He was also contacted for confirmation regarding tentative plans of the Foreign Mission Panel to visit Myanmar.

As the time drew near to finalize plans for the trip to Myanmar on our way to India, Aung Kyaw Moe withdrew his invitation for the team of Pastor Ike Graham, Joshua Steiner and Benjamin Miller to visit him.  Shortly thereafter, Dr. Neng Thang extended an invitation for the team to come to Yangon, Myanmar.  Proverbs 16:9 says that the mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.  God has changed our plans midstream and we wait to see what, if anything, He has for the CGBCI in Myanmar.  Please pray that the Lord will make known to us His good, acceptable and perfect will regarding this trip to Myanmar and any future opportunities for church planting.

INDIA MINISTRY

This will most likely be our last update by means of this monthly update between now and Conference.  At Conference, on June 30th, we plan to give a report of our trip to Myanmar and India.  As you pray for our upcoming trip, pray too that the Lord will supply the finances for our support this quarter of the church planters.  We were $510.00 short.  Pray also, that sufficient funds will be available for our time in Myanmar and India for food, transportation, etc.  At this time, we are probably about $1500 short.  We do thank every one who contributes to this ministry.

We are scheduled to arrive from Myanmar into India on Friday, May 10th.  Our first week will be at the orphanage called “Agape Home,” where we will participate in the CGBCIndia Conference.  Pastor Ike Graham, Joshua Steiner and Benjamin Miller will be speaking along with the church planting team leaders.  Pastor Ike has been asked to speak on “Integrity” in the ministry.  Then, we will visit as many of the church planting locations as possible to see how things have progressed.  We will also spend 3 days visiting tribal peoples and gathering information for Craig & Sara Noyes for a possible church planting effort among the tribal peoples of India (or Myanmar).  Lord willing, we will arrive back into the U.S. on May 28th.  Please pray that the Lord will grant to us good health, safety in travel, and that each objective will be accomplished for His glory and the good of His people.

Thank you for praying!

Uganda Ministry Update

DSC07924 - small

Pastor Chris Pronesta in Kampala, Uganda shared that they had five new believers who are going to be baptized.  He is awaiting our coming to help in his training.  This past week at the pastor’s mid-year meetings, the FMP endorsed a trip to Uganda for the training of Pastor Christopher and at least four other men who desire full time ministry.  Please pray for Pastor Keith Merriman and brother Peter Stergios as they prepare for this trip.

They do not have a fixed date yet but they hope to go yet this summer.  They also hope to take one of the pastors with them from Cameroon.  They would like to go for three intensive weeks of training in Uganda teaching Brethren Beliefs and Practices, Hermeneutics (how to study the Bible) and Homiletics (how to preach the Word of God).  And then probably spend some time in Cameroon as well.  They may stop in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to investigate church planting there if the Lord allows.  Please pray that the Lord will provide and direct their steps as they make preparations.
