MYANMAR INVESTIGATIVE TRIP
In 2010, Pastor Ike Graham was contacted by a church elder in Yangon, Myanmar by the name of Aung Kyaw Moe. Correspondence regarding church planting in Myanmar ensued for months. Then, in November of 2011, Aung came to the U.S. and visited Pastor Graham at his house.
At that time, plans were made for the team going to India in May 2013 to visit Myanmar and explore the possibility of planting churches there in a partnership with Aung Kyaw Moe. In the meantime, Dr. Whitcomb had met a man from Myanmar (Burma) in Indianapolis by the name of Neng Thang. Neng Thang has his doctorate from Bob Jones University. He is involved in outreach and church planting in Myanmar. He was also contacted for confirmation regarding tentative plans of the Foreign Mission Panel to visit Myanmar.
As the time drew near to finalize plans for the trip to Myanmar on our way to India, Aung Kyaw Moe withdrew his invitation for the team of Pastor Ike Graham, Joshua Steiner and Benjamin Miller to visit him. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Neng Thang extended an invitation for the team to come to Yangon, Myanmar. Proverbs 16:9 says that the mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. God has changed our plans midstream and we wait to see what, if anything, He has for the CGBCI in Myanmar. Please pray that the Lord will make known to us His good, acceptable and perfect will regarding this trip to Myanmar and any future opportunities for church planting.
This will most likely be our last update by means of this monthly update between now and Conference. At Conference, on June 30th, we plan to give a report of our trip to Myanmar and India. As you pray for our upcoming trip, pray too that the Lord will supply the finances for our support this quarter of the church planters. We were $510.00 short. Pray also, that sufficient funds will be available for our time in Myanmar and India for food, transportation, etc. At this time, we are probably about $1500 short. We do thank every one who contributes to this ministry.
We are scheduled to arrive from Myanmar into India on Friday, May 10th. Our first week will be at the orphanage called “Agape Home,” where we will participate in the CGBCIndia Conference. Pastor Ike Graham, Joshua Steiner and Benjamin Miller will be speaking along with the church planting team leaders. Pastor Ike has been asked to speak on “Integrity” in the ministry. Then, we will visit as many of the church planting locations as possible to see how things have progressed. We will also spend 3 days visiting tribal peoples and gathering information for Craig & Sara Noyes for a possible church planting effort among the tribal peoples of India (or Myanmar). Lord willing, we will arrive back into the U.S. on May 28th. Please pray that the Lord will grant to us good health, safety in travel, and that each objective will be accomplished for His glory and the good of His people.
Thank you for praying!
Meshech, Paul, Sarah & Gilbert Rajan
